0811 - "Do You Love Me?" (John 21: 1-25)  Archived

Today's message is the last of a five part series presented for Easter 2008. (See "Prayer Power" (John 17:1-26), "Enter His Gates" (John 13:1-17), "We are the Champions" (John 12:12-19), and "Beginning" (John 20:1-9))  Pastor Don focuses on the differences between Peter's and Jesus' leadership styles.  He goes on to point out that no matter how big our sin or mistake, Jesus can make the most of it.  In the second half of the message Pastor Don identifies the type of love Jesus used when speaking with Peter during the Last Supper.  Note how Jesus changes the underlying meaning of the word love when asking Peter three times if he loved him.

0812 - "The Joy of Praise" (Acts 16:22-29)  Archived

This is the first of four messages in a series on the subject of Joy (see message 0812 - 0815).  We all praise something.  Pastor Don points out that God created us, for among things, to be joyful.  Even in the toughest of times we have things to be joyful about, as evident by Joni Eareckson Tada's life story.  In the new testament bible we see countless stories where  Christians suffering under persecution as able to see joy during difficult times, as evident with Paul and Silas while in jail.  Pastor Don concludes with identifying how Paul had no joy until after the Lord sent Barnabas as an example.

0813 - "The Joy of Forgiveness" (Matthew 6:9-15)  Archived

This is the second of a series on Joy (see message 0812 - 0815).  In today's message Pastor Don focuses on three central points; Forgiveness of Others, Forgiveness from God, and Forgiveness for Yourself.  When we forgive we more like Jesus than at any other time.  To receive forgiveness from God we must first ask for it, then ask Him to lead us, and then to deliver us.  Finally, Pastor Don brings up how our forgiving ourselves is one of the most difficult things we face.  There is only one unpardonable sin, and all others are forgiven by Jesus.

0814 - "The Joy of Service" (Matthew 25:14-26)  Archived

This is the third in a series on Joy (see message 0812 - 0815). In today's message we see three men entrusted with their master's money while he was away.  Two of the three increased their master's money by using their personal talents, the third was lazy and did not.  Pastor Don points out that God has given all some sort of talent, and he expects you to use it for his kingdom.  For those who follow his command the reward is rich, from great experiences to potential eternal life.  God has a plan for you and your talent.  Do you want to be part of it?

0815 - "The Joy of Living" (Luke 10:25-37)  Archived

Pastor Don is away for this weekend and it is up to Steve Vlasak to fill in.  Have you ever wondered how many Christian religions (denominations) there are, and why so many exist?  What is the difference between religion, faith, and a church?  This message is unique in that it is a factual in nature, outlining information about the various religions in the world, and in particular, statistics about Christianity as a faith.  If concludes with an understanding of what the primary purpose of the local church is.

0816 - "Have Unity-Not Religion" (Acts: 2:42-47 )  Archived

Pastor Don is away for this weekend and it is up to Steve Vlasak to fill in.  Have you ever wondered how many Christian religions (denominations) there are, and why so many exist?  What is the difference between religion, faith, and a church?  This message is unique in that it is factual in nature, outlining information about the various religions in the world, and in particular, statistics about Christianity as a faith.  If concludes with an understanding of what the primary purpose of the local church is.

0817 - "The Zarephath Widow" (I Kings: 17:7-16 )  Archived

Pastor Don gives this message on Mother's Day 2008.  The Zarephath widow is a strong and courageous woman, but more than that, a dedicated mother.  She provides a great example of how we should have a servants heart, even when meeting strangers.  With just enough food for her son and herself she made a choice to provide for the stranger, a man of God.  She was rewarded, and was able to give her son gifts untold.

0818 - "Queen Esther" (Esther4:9-17)  Archived

Esther started as "eye candy" for King Xerxes after he had his first wife Queen Vashti done away with for not obeying him.  Being of God, she was able to capitalize on her position with the king when called upon to save her people, the Jews, from certain death.  Her success was based on providing respect to the king as she worked a plan to request that he intercede to save her people.  Esther first took the matter up in prayer, also requesting that all her people do the same.  Eventually the king saved her people and she was rewarded by becoming the new queen.

0819 - "Deborah, a Prophetess" (Judges 4)  Archived

In this message Pastor Don does a great job using Deborah to identify the character of leaders.  This message is the final in a series on women as great examples, delivered in the month of May, 2008, for which Mother's Day resides in (see messages 0817 - 0819).  Again, like Esther, she looks to God for her leadership.  Next, she develops leaders out of other people.  She surrounds herself with qualified people.  This helps her make wise and informed decisions.  Deborah recognizes those around her as well.  All these qualities and more are found in Deborah.

0820 - "Jonah, A Book of God's Providing" (Jonah 6: 1-8)  Archived

As a child in Sunday School we learned about Jonah, tossed overboard by fellow sailors during a storm, and then swallowed by a whale, where he spent three days before being spit up.  This is a classic story of what happens to one who is called on by God and decides to ignore Him.  Have you ever "made a deal" with God, promising "if He would do this I will do that"?  In today's message Pastor Don reveals what God provides.  He concludes with "What do you think is the greatest waste of natural resource?"  Well - do you?
